Alexander Naji at Aldeburgh

In March 2012 I have spent a couple of days in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, the place where Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears lived.
A little audiovisual memory - sorry, in German.

Profile

Born in Bonn, Germany. Studied music at the Cologne University of Music (M.A. equivalent). Performances in various genres including classical music, jazz, and music comedy (CD production), as a soloist, conducting choirs and orchestras, playing the viola, guitar or keyboards.

Voice teacher at the University of Music: Prof. Arthur Janzen. Major influence as a conductor: Celso Antunes (currently chief conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir, professor for Choral Conducting in Genèva). Joined the the Sarteano Chamber Choral Workshop in Sarteano in 2009 under the guidance of Simon Carrington (formerly King’s Singers, professor emeritus of choral conducting, Yale University). In 2010 studied further orchestral conducting at the Conductors’ Academy (with Jonathan Brett) in Estonia. Studied again with Simon Carrington at the Yale Summer School of Music 2012 at Norfolk. Lessons in phonetics at the University of Bonn.

Conductor of the Kantorei Tokyo Yokohama from 2005 to 2011. Conductor of Audienda Tokyo Yokohama (female voice choir) since 2012. In 2008: Kammerchor St. Cecilia Tokyo (with voice students from the Tokyo University of the Arts).

Working as a conductor and/or pronunciation coach for Forum 21 in Ichinomiya and the NHK children's choir Tokyo.

Alexander Naji was a research student of orchestral conducting at the Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku) in 2013 and also a part time teacher of German language at the Toho Gakuen School of Music.

A larger project was 探Suchen求 (Genji/Goethe) in 2013, a combination of as well literature and music, as also traditional Japanese music and western classical music. Alexander Naji served as composer, reciter, conductor and musical director.

Music teaching experiences: voice and conducting lessons, pronunciation and interpretation lessons of Lieder and arias. Also a passionate jazz musician - arranging, playing the guitar and above all singing.

Alexander Naji is working in Japanese, German and English.

アレクサンダー・ナジ

独ボン出身。ケルン音楽大学にて声楽・音楽教育を、ボン大学およびケルン大学にて物理学を修める（教員資格取得）。ボン大学では発声・発音・朗読法も学ぶ。声楽をA・ヤンツェン（ケルン音楽大学名誉教授）に師事。指揮法は、C・アントゥーネス（オランダ放送合唱団主席指揮者、ジュネーブ音楽院教授）、S・キャリントン（イェール大学名誉教授）らの下で研鑽を積む。在学中より歌曲とオラトリオを中心に舞台経験を積む。またクラシック音楽やジャズの要素を取り入れた音楽コメディの活動も行う。

2005年来日。2005年～2011年まで東京ドイツ語教会合唱団＜カントライ＞指揮者、2012年から女声合唱団＜Audienda Tokyo Yokohama＞指揮者を務める。東京藝術大学声楽科学生有志による＜室内合唱団セイント・セシリア東京＞の合唱指導・指揮を行う等、声楽を学ぶ若手の支援・育成にも力を入れている。歌手としてはドイツリート等、クラシック音楽での活動に加え、ジャズボーカリストとしても数多くの舞台をこなす。

音楽教育への関わりは多岐に渡っている。首都圏を中心に声楽や指揮の個人指導を行う他、日本では数少ないヨーロッパ出身の音楽家・音楽指導者として、日本語などの非西欧言語を母語とする歌い手を対象に独自の視点からクラシック歌曲の発音・発声指導を行っている。日本ドイツリート協会やその前身であるクラングにおいては公開講座講師も務めた。また成人合唱団の他、＜フォーラム21少年少女合唱団＞や＜NHK東京児童合唱団＞といった児童合唱団での指導経験も有する。指導言語は、日本語・ドイツ語・英語。
